Pierre Huet Calvados
Since 1865 and over five generations the Huet family have made cider and calvados winning many awards and with over a centuries experience the Huet family have become masters in the art of producing subtle smooth and delicate blends.
Huet is presented in many famous restaurants and for drinking with friends it is a personal favourite of mine; good conversation will always flow with good calvados. The subtle warm blends produced by this exceptional domaine will win over even the most skeptical amongst us.
Based in Cambremer the capital of cider production the family owns 50 hectares of orchards that produce some 500 tons of apples every season. From both short and long stem trees apple production is strictly controlled, Kristen the Production Manager at Huet says good cider requires good fruit.
The 200 year old barrels used to age the cider before distillation had to be some of the most impressive we had seen, but everything about Huet impressed. Huet has to be one of the world's finest brands and this reflected by everyone we met upon our visit.
